1) A long time ago, I heard a quote somewhere that a manager never wanted his band to play concerts where people didn't have to pay. It's not that the band wouldn't get paid, but he said that when people pay for the concert, it means more to them. I think this is true for any form of entertainment. Had I paid $97 to see Bruce Springsteen & E Street in May, I would have stayed through the whole six song encore. But we left after the third song. Lately I have been taking out at least five cds a week and loading them into iTunes. I haven't even listened to half the music yet. I'm cool with it. I was just thinking though that had I paid for all this music, I probably would have listened to all of it already.
2) I hate the term "foodie". I really enjoy cooking, and eating for that matter. Sure, I like to know where my food came from. But something about the term rubs me the wrong way. It makes me feel uncomfortable.
3) Last week I started reading the Narnia series. They read a lot quicker than I thought. For some reason, I figured they were going to be a real intense read.
4) Fireworks have been going off in our neighborhood for the past week. The 4th isn't until Saturday, but people around here must feel the need to celebrate something.
