1) I know I haven't posted here in a few weeks, the reason being I was in Europe. It was absolutely brilliant. Our trip looked like this:
NYC->London->Paris->Brussels->Brugge->Cologne->Berlin->Amsterdam->JFK
Overall, it was one of the most exciting things I have ever done. It's hard to write down all I saw, but here are some favorites, and impressions:
a) Belgium waffles are delicious in Belgium.
b) A lot of graffiti and smoking in the cities.
c) You will get a better impression of Europe if you go to smaller cities and towns. Big ones are great, but I couldn't help but to feel they were so much more touristy than smaller ones.
d) The U.S. is the center of the media/entertainment world.
e) The Tate Modern museum in London is outstanding. Much better than MoMA. The Mona Lisa is small, and Versailles was cool, but not worth it.
f) Amsterdam isn't what it's cracked up to be in terms of narcotics, but it more than makes up for it visually.
g) You don't need to know the other language, just attempt it.
h) Europeans have a skewed idea of what Americans eat for breakfast.
i) Fat Tire Bike Tours are your best bet for a great day in a city. Their pub crawls are fun as well.
j) The Berlin Club we went to felt like the IB.
There is more. But that's all I have for now. For a while I posted on how I really wanted to travel. And I don't feel as though that itch may ever be cured. But this trip seemed to remedy it for the time being. It feels great to be home, even if only for a few days.
2) Driving home today, I concluded that right now, I'm in a no bullshit point in my life.
