1) I guess my summer vacation began today. If that's what you call it at this age. I haven't been learning in school in a year. And I will be working in less than a month. But for right now, I guess I'm on vacation. Good times.
2) The hippies won on The Amazing Race, and I couldn't be happier. Now I doubt the frat boys were as mean as the producers made them out to be, but still, the hippies seemed to exude optimisim and good spirits.
3) I made some bread yesterday. Reminded me of my glory days in college when I would make 2-3 loaves a week. I enjoy making it in the breadmaker, but the texture constantly seems the same. Eventually I'd like to try it in the oven.
4) After letting the Disco Biscuits show from this weekend settle in, I realized that I still enjoy jambands. I mean, I'm not saying I never didn't like them. But for the last probably 2 years or so, I have felt that my attention towards them has been drifting. After the monster of a show I saw, I realized it is a good thing that there are less jambands today than 5 years ago, because it's the really better quality ones that are playing, as opposed to those that sucked. And I love seeing shows at places like the Palace. Chances are 99% won't be playing huge sheds or arenas anytime soon, which is fine by me, and theatres and bigger clubs are fine by me.
5) I must say that I enjoy P.A.T.'s effort to post his song of the week through his blog. I didn't post lyrics to a song last week, because to be honest, I didn't feel like it. This week's song is a catchy number, proving that yes, jambands can play 3.5 minute songs with hooks.
Back in the summer of 88
I didn't know how to rock and roll
I saw your face as I drove away
How could I know what you'd do to my soul?
Goodbye Suzie goodbye UNH
I've been down this road before
I said that right when I hit LA
Im feelin alright
Im feelin okay
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Drag my duster all the way to school
Smoking joints in the parking lot
I think I heard it one K-Rock night
Lizard Boy you've been gettin too high
We were friends for goodness sake
Until that summer up at the bay
Sweetness, innocence gone away
How I miss them good old days
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
Okay, Alright
"Okay, Alright" by the rock band Moe.
