1) Happy 2007. I hope everyone had a great New Years. My friend PJ visited me this past weekend, and we did a number of cool things around the city. For NYE, we saw The Slip in Brooklyn.
2) I saw today that Oprah donated $40 million to open a school for 150 girls in South Africa. How about you spend that $40 million on inner-city schools in the US, and teach a few hundred-thousand students.
3) Some things I think are going to become bigger in 2007:
1) Taking the bus in NYC. I took a bus three times in December, and it was a good time.
2) Pears. A very underrated fruit.
3) Tiles. You can do cool things with tiles. Make some nice designs.
4) People using land-lines again.
5) Regular jeans. Not boot-cut, not skinny, just regular jeans.
6) The 90's. They are just becoming far enough away that we can look at that wonderful decade with a nostalgic eye. For those needing more proof, click here
7) Mineral water. And for that matter, non-traditional (soda) carbonated beverages.
4) President Ford passed away last week. After visiting his museum last year, I definitely feel like I knew about him better than most other presidents. At the time I feel like many people questioned his decisions, but since his passing, he seems to be praised by the media. I think rightfully so.
