1) One of the advantages of the job search for me has been the ability to watch a few minutes of CNN whenever I feel like it throughout the day. On Monday, likes millions of others, I turned on the TV, and saw 22 people dead at Virginia Tech. I couldn't believe it. But I kept going. The closest connection I have to VA Tech is my high school swim coach/math teacher moved there four years ago. But then yesterday it hit me. While watching the convocation, I definitely got emotional.
This really could happen anywhere. How easy would it have been for someone to walk into Wells (building where I had classes every semester but one in college), and open fire? Very. At the end of the convocation, Nikki Giovanni gave one of the best speeches I've ever heard.
2) This past Friday I saw Guster. I had a really nice time. One thing I will say though is that they really could do a better job changing up their set lists. With five albums worth of material, it would be alright to not play some of the bigger songs each night, and play some stuff off Parachute.
