I didn't know you could ball...

1) A productive weekend all around. We saw the basement band play to possibly their smallest crowd ever in Woodstock, visited with friends in Saratoga, bought delicious food from a non-local place (I know all you hippies, I'm sorry, but there is a strong argument showing how buying local isn't all it's cracked up to be, I'm still debating my point of view), joined the Y, and all around relaxed.

2) Tomorrow my "summer job" begins. Even though it really started in March. This is the first summer in five years where I feel pretty at ease with my current living, working, existing situation. Not to say that camp wasn't one of the greatest experiences I've had, but there was a strong element of uncertainty with what I was going to do post-camp. Last summer was just a mess for a lot of reasons. But now, I have an internship, place to live, know my path in September, and just feel comfortable. As I write this I'm watching the sun set past Albany-Med. Not as nice as in a place like Geneseo, or over the Sacandaga, but still nice.

3) But I still won't be able to volunteer at camp this summer. This is the way it is. We're going to 4 weddings in the next few months, and have to use our time off for them. Also, with both of us beginning new jobs, taking even more time off is out of the question. We'll deal. It's not like we won't be there in the future. And we'll be able to visit on weekends.

4) One of the most interesting things that I learned towards the end of the year was in relation to energy consumption around the world, and specifically the US. It relates to the amount of energy consumed, and how there is not enough emphasis placed on the demand as the supply. We have the capability to produce it, but the demand is what is hurting us the most.
