1) So the last three months were just about as busy as could be. The last two weeks we had a "global simulation". We worked long and hard. Looking back on it, I can't justify yet if it was worth it.
Needless, I do feel like looking back on my first year that I did learn a great deal. Not just about business, but also working with people. I have worked on teams my entire life. However, I never worked with them to the degree that I most recently did. I truly think that different people have much different motivations for being in our program.
2) Yesterday we gave our final presentation for the simulation, really the capstone of the project, as well as the year. I used to think of myself as a good public speaker. However sometimes I just get nervous, stumble, and simply don't step up. I knew that I was going to have to step up yesterday and get the job done on my part. We were told on Tuesday afternoon basically that our group was doing awful, and if we were in a real board room that we'd been asked to leave a while ago.
I was nervous at the beginning, my palms sweating like crazy, my mouth dry. Then I told myself to get a hold of yourself. Man up and get the job done. So I did.
3) What I realized yesterday that I missed about school when I wasn't in it is being tested. I used to hate tests. Still don't love them. But they are necessary.
After I graduated from undergrad, I think I was burned out from being "tested". Whether in school or in the water, I just wanted to do my own thing. But I have come to realize the importance. My dad told me once that it is OK to fail, it's a part of life. But it is just as important to be able to push yourself to succeed. In an academic setting, I like the feeling of pushing myself, and succeeding.
4) Two weeks ago, my good friend P.A.T. got married. His wedding was a great time. Congrats Pat & Tina!
5) This is going to be my first summer in 4 working in an office. I'm not complaining, but it's definitely going to be different than I'm used to. Last summer was transitional, and I'm looking forward to just falling into somewhat of a routine for the time being.
6) Sandy and I were talking about concerts to see this summer. We both feel like there's not a lot of bands we'd really want to see coming to the area. To take it one step further, I feel like there's not a whole lot of bands I'd really want to see in general right now.
7) On the topic of music, I know Vampire Weekend is a buzz band right now, but their album is good. Quick beats and catchy hooks.
basement band are releasing their first full length album, until the evening came. I'm not sure how they are setting up distribution, but if you are interested let me know, and I'll enable you to get your little hands on a copy.
