1) So, here we are. I'm in my new apartment. I have two other roommates, named Phil and Dan. I started work with both of them, and so far we get along well. This apartment is right outside the city limits of Milwaukee, in a town called Wauwatosa. Tosa for short. We live about a mile from the Miller Brewery, as well as Miller Field. We're a quick ride from a lot of places, which is one of the reasons why I liked the central location.
The apartment is probably the nicest place I've lived besides my parents house. It doesn't have the charm that The Hill (Madison Ave. apt) had. But not only is it much more spacious, but there are some great amenities. As always, visitors are welcome.
2) Moving into this new apartment has been interesting in terms of how to furnish it. There is a good possibility I may be leaving here in January as I embark on a new rotation in another location around the country. However, I need a few essentials to survive. Regardless, it's frustrating to buy a can opener, knowing full well Sandy is using ours back in Albany.
3) Tonight I start 3 weeks (10 days) of night shifts, 7pm to 7am. I'm not thrilled about this. As many of you know, I can get tired/grouchy at night, and in general, would much prefer to work during the day. But, I knew about this when I accepted the position. I bought some green tea. And some Clif Bars. We'll see how it goes.
4) I've been enjoying Yonder Mountain String Band lately. I burned a copy of their Mountain Tracks: Vol. 5 from the library lately. I'm not the biggest fan of bluegrass, but their music seems to be more innovative than most other bluegrass I've heard.
5) Something I've lived without for almost 2 months has been a blender. I bought one on Friday, and can't wait to get back to my shakes.
6) You can smoke in bars in Wisconsin. Absolutely disgusting. Madison, being the great city it is has banned the practice.
7) Even though I've been here for 6 weeks, it's still hard for me to think about myself being in a different time zone. I know it's a certain time here, but I can't help but to think that people on the East Coast are ahead of me. I'm sure eventually I'll get used to it.
