Downstream drifting

1) I am now doing the two things that I vowed not to do upon graduating: teaching and working in retail. I subbed everyday this week, and was also hired to work at the Gap. You might ask why I picked such an interesting selection of places to choose to work for the holiday season? Especially because I don't really buy clothes, and when I do it's from the Salvation Army. The reason being because they were hiring, I am broke, the pay is good, and a nice discount. Also, because I wasn't hired at Barnes and Noble. (although I feel like they just messed up at BN, ask for more details).

2) Shine is a good album. Not great, but decent. The band is young, and it shows. Their songs have been road tested on 2 tours, and will probably still grow. I purposely tried not to listen to anything from the spring or summer, because I knew the band was young, and that they still had things to work out.

There are some great things on this album. One being acoustic guitar. Another being Sweet Dreams Melinda and Invisible. This album is also accessible. I feel like it would be the type of album to put on at a party or social gathering.

But it doesn't slow down. A problem I feel that Phish always had was playing a slower song. Even a slow song of theirs feels rushed to me, and I have the same feeling with this album. And finding the right balance with two guitars will take time.

Tom Marshall isn't present on this album, but the theme of water is still there. This is Trey speaking, and his message seems clear, that this is his place to start.

3) Besides that, nothing else is really new. Tomorrow will most likely be quiet, and then training on Sunday from 8-5. We had an orientation last night, and I was really surprised at some of the things that I learned about the company, products, and people.

4) For those of you keeping track, Fall has arrived.
