1) I just watched a guy make a deal on "Deal or No Deal" for $675, 000. He had $3, 000, 000 in his case. Man that sucks. But a question that I have been thinking is how much are winners of game shows taxed? I know that they are taxed, but how much, and is it only over a certain amount?
2) I went to a wedding this weekend. It was a good time. New Jersey is nicer than a lot of people think.
3) There are campers/SWiMs that are reading this. In any case, I hope you all are well.
4) The job search slowly continues. I feel like I spend a good chunk of my day in front of the computer. Which I guess I'm fine with, but sometimes its seems like there is not much forward progress. I have gotten back in the habit of reading the New York Times everyday. Although I know I should be getting my news from a number of sources, which I still do, the NYT just seems so familiar to me.
5) There are 88 people on my buddy list. That is the most it has been in a long time.
6) I must say that the song, "Sexy Back", is damn catchy. I was saying this weekend, that the song is more an anthem, than just a hit. Everything is "(insert an adjetive, perhaps Detriot) back". With the techno beat, and the catchy hook, I haven't gotten it out of my head for the last few days.
7) And for the song of the week. I know what you are thinking, my many loyal readers. It is Monday. The song of the week is supposed to come out Thursday. It will return to its regular day of the week soon, but I feel like posting the lyrics to a song right now. So deal.
The second concert I saw at SPAC this summer was Guster w/ Ray LaMontagne. This was my favorite concert I went to this summer. Sandy and I got there early and did some cooking out in the empty parking lot before the show. We walked in right at the beginning of Ray's set. Naturally we saw some SWiMs/campers. Our seats were inside, very close to where my seats were for the Dave Matthews Band when I was 14. Ray's set was ok. I couldn't really get into his music though. The fans clearly didn't seem to be entertained. Also, the sound wasn't that good.
Onto the main event. Guster came out, and rocked hard. They seemed much more focused than when I saw them in April. No more songs from Parachute. Which brings me to point C, I like simple songs from Parachute. But they are doing their thing, and their thing is pretty good right now. One of the songs that I was most excited to hear was "The New Underground" off of the new album, Ganging Up On the Sun. The song seems to be the most forward thinking song on the album, straight ahead rock.
welcome you're under control
and buried like a mole
a 1, 000 feet below
waiting we're all that we've got
our reputation's shot
a 90 story fall
no one here can make a sound
we're all ghosts in this town
we are standing in the trenches
of the new underground
pipe down stay under control
it's getting so absurd
soon everything will turn
it's our time to see the Sun
there'll be a crack and our day will come
maybe then we'll be the ones
you never can be sure the shot heard
round the world
no one here can make a sound
we're just ghosts in this town
we are standing in the trenches
of the new underground
no one here can make a sound
we're just ghosts in this town
we are standing in the trenches
of the new underground
all the walls are coming down
we're still hanging around
we are digging in the trenches
of the new underground

Hey B-ri - Good to hear from you and read some of your blog. I have "Sexy Back" in my head right now too. Yep, it's catchy - enough so to make me admit to enjoying something involving Justin Timberlake. Anyway, I had a good time getting to know you a bit at camp, and hope to talk to you again soon!
