1) Life has been moving at a rapid pace lately. Three weeks ago we went to Chicago. We had a real fun time, thanks to our hostess with the mostess, Anna. We went on a bike tour, which would have been awesome, however it was sleeting like a mo-fo. There were literally pellets of an awful rain/snow/sleet mix nailing our faces and the company wouldn't cancel the tour. But the tour itself was real fun. I realized that biking is probably my favorite ways to see cities. Even though I've only done it once prior to this in Berlin, I'd like to try it more. Another highlight was going to a breakfast place called Anne Sathers, which had the best cinnamon rolls I've ever eaten.
2) Last week we went to an end of the season banquet for Grumpy's Football Pool. This year I ended up fifth overall, a slight decrease from my stunning first place victory last season. I was very happy though, because I have such little knowledge of football, I'm surprised that I did so well again. And to top it all off, I was the Sally award winner for the second year in a row. This is a prestigious award given to the player that is the most conservative with their picks each week. That would be me.
3) Growing up, our family had a few other families that we were particularly close with. Some of my best memories growing up included these other families. Recently, the father in one of these families died suddenly. It's still difficult for me to think about. Although I haven't talked with him much in the past few years, I know my parents still did. And I felt like it was the first death since my dad passed away where I was really sad. Although there have been deaths since my dad dying that have upset me, I feel like his death still overshadowed them all. But not this one. I know that life goes on, and that if anything, this person wouldn't want me to be sad over him.
4) And lastly, a song that I hadn't thought about in a while popped into my head at work today. Here it is below:
