1) We just got back from a real nice weekend in NYC. A good time had by all. The first time I really was in a small space with some celebs who weren't there for work. For people in NYC, this happens a bunch. But for someone from Upstate, it was very cool.
2) At my place of employment, we have to work 9 hour day. This is fine, I used to, and still don't mind working longer hours. But we are forced to take an hour out for lunch. I know the reasoning behind this. But really, I can eat my lunch in 12 min. Also, my friends seem to be so surprised that I get to work at 7:30 am.
3) The Mole is back on. This was always one of my favorite TV shows, and it's great watching it each week. I think that some of the people try too hard, and it is apparent they are not the Mole.
4) Last, and most importantly, if you are in or around the NYC area this coming Saturday, head on down to see the basement band @ Pianos. It is their cd release party, and they have some real rockin surprises up their sleeve. Unfortunately I can't make it, but was given one of the first copies of "until the evening came".
I know I've talked about it before, but it is a phenomenal mix of rock, folk, acoustic, etc. It is loud by being quiet. There an intenseness that is rarely captured in the studio, but these troubadours succeed with flying colors. What a great deal of young bands with wide ranging influences attempt to do is create a sound that blends together into one great mess. bb doesn't fall into this trap, and clearly allows the songs room to breath. On & on is a true gem that shines and would belong at any bar in Nashville. Another Reason to Be Down is a set closer and crowd pleaser that is only going to get stronger as the rooms become bigger. And they will.
