1) We bought some picture frames for our apartment. We are hesitant to put pictures up on our walls, because although we like it here, it is still an apartment, and temporary. So we have them situated nicely on our bookshelf. We realized a lot of our pictures were older, from when we first met, and prior. We were able to add a few more from the last year or two.
2) Yesterday in church, my pastor said that he had been to too many funerals recently. Yesterday in the afternoon, my mom told me that good friend's father passed away. I think back to what happened when my own father passed away, and what the subsequent time period following it felt like. It is hard to think about.
Our mortality is literally so fragile. You never think that something like this can happen to you, or someone you know/love. Go and tell your friends and family how much they matter today.
