June 21, 2005 Staff Training Day 7
Yesterday I went to a trip to Mud Lake. Lots of beaver dams. We went out for Eric's 21st to Swifty's. Good times with lots of people.
Today was almost totally spent with work on the beach. The weather was warm, windy, w/ little clouds. I am nervous for the beach French Louie. I don't want the drill to go badly, because I feel as though it will be a bad reflection upon me. I've been getting frustrated not knowing everything about the waterfront, and working with 2 other first years has been pretty rough. Good thing we have Danielle and Annie to lead us.
Spiritually I just don't seem to be connecting like I thought I would. It's just not there 100% like I assumed. Sometimes I seem to find the morning watch/vespers to be not really substantive, or relevant and hard to follow.
It's been harder for me to meet new people than I thought it would be. In college I was around/friends with people that I have a lot in common with. I'm sure I do have some things in common with most of these people, but it might take longer to get to them than say with the Blue Wave.
I am beginning to think it's time to start exercising again. This 4 months off has been nice, but I reckon it's time to get back into some type of shape.
My first day of subbing is over. It wasn't bad, but it was only a half day. I taught for two periods basically. There was such a difference between 7th and 8th graders. As soon as I came home I told my mom my observations, and she completely agreed (she's been teaching middle school health for 30 years).
1) Besides that, nothing else to report on. I've been helping out more around the house, mostly by chopping wood and moving rocks. As I've said before, my parents are very into this whole Country Living way of life. Whatever floats your boat.
2) I've had some great convos with Brothers D and E recently. Speaking to both of them creates an image of camp and a way of life that is very powerful. Good times.
